Transitional Leadership Coaching
Your Starting Point
If you’ve recently been promoted or decided to leave your steady job for a new venture, you might wonder what’s in store for you next.
You may be asking yourself, Do I have what it takes to meet this new challenge?
It may seem counter-intuitive to begin with a pause. Yet a pause, a breath, a moment in stillness or silence is exactly what’s needed to ease into your transition and cross the threshold.
Stepping into the unknown takes self-awareness, courage, and faith in the strengths you already have—especially the ones just waiting to be recognized.
Stepping Up with Care
Crossing the threshold requires specific care because life and work transition phases aren’t like everyday living.
We want to step up into a higher excellence and enjoyment. And to do so, we need:
•to take care of ourselves differently,
•to recognize and anchor in our strengths,
•to foster patience and steady perseverance, and
•to cultivate the attitude that the best is yet to come.
The tools, strengths, and vision for the future already exist within us. With time and space to explore them, we see how to build a new job or a new life from the inside out.
Coming from Strength
The best tools are the ones we already own. We activate them from the inside out.
To navigate crossing a threshold, we look at what you naturally love to do, and what you do well. We apply all you’ve learned there to chart your path forward. How does this work? A story:
A client, overwhelmed at work, told me he loved to surf. When I asked how he learned this skill, he shared the story of multiple wipe outs. Underwater, the fear and disorientation lasted about 10 seconds. Then he’d find his board tethered to his ankle and ride up again.
We applied this metaphor to his big wave at work. Relief that the fear and disorientation was temporary cleared the way for us to find the specific strengths that put him back on top of the wave.
